Library News February 6, 2019

A Valentine Party and Make &Take gathering was held at the library on Friday, February 1st at 1:30 pm.  Corinne Peterson, Pocahontas County Naturalist shared the history of Valentines and demonstrated making Valentine baskets using weaving techniques and the ladies present enjoyed making Valentines and cards for other occasions using an embosser.  A Valentine trivia game was played and prizes were awarded to the most knowledgeable participants. Deb Koester and Cindy Loots placed first and second and took home large Hershey Kisses.  Did you know that over a billion Valentines are sold each year and teachers are the largest recipient? Coffee and Valentine cookies were served and delicious sandwiches were shared made by Lucia Schumacher and Ruth Jesse. Thank you also to Lucia and Martha Hernandez who helped clean up and get the library back in order.  I want to extend a huge thank you to Corinne for her informative and interesting program and to all of the participants who attended.

Recent donations to the library include a memorial donation from Larry & Eileen Lundeen in memory of Janice Meyer, an adult coloring book from Carol Johnson and Karen Schwardt for her continued donation of magazine subscriptions to the library.  We thank them for their generosity.
