Library News July 18, 2018

The Pomeroy Library Summer Reading party was held this past Wednesday at the Pomeroy Prange Park. There were 30 children and 17 adults that enjoyed the program presented by Corinne Peterson.  With a rock related theme, they explored fossils and a variety of stones complete with a story walk around the park reading, "Crawdad Creek" by Scott Russell Sanders.  They were led by Pomeroy Library Director, Cassandra Lenz.  Lunch was served by Library board members, Sharon DeVore, Deb Mefferd, Paul Johnson and Linda Courter.  Awards were presented to the top readers and Summer Reading participants.  The Library extends thanks to the adults who helped at the program, to the Storm Lake Hy-Vee for donating the hamburger, hot dogs, buns and chips, Fareway for four cases of water and condiments and WalMart for a gift card used to purchase dessert items.

The Pomeroy Library enjoyed participating in the Homecoming Days Parade last week.  Thank you to all of our "Rock Stars" and parents that helped us that day.  We would also like to thank Cindy Loots and everyone who stopped by and visited the Pomeroy Library and watched "The Story of the Storm", a presentation made possible by Cindy Loots which commemorated the 125th Anniversary of the Pomeroy Tornado.

The Library Board hopes that you have stopped in to view all the items commemerating the 125th Anniversary of the Pomeroy Tornado, which is on loan from the Pomeroy Historical Society as well as St. John Lutheran Church.
Our next Movie matinee at the Library will be "Jumangi", starring the late Robin Williams.  Mark your calendars for Thursday, July 26th at 1:30pm!
