Library News August 29, 2018

It's hard to believe but the school year is here and the kids are keeping very busy with all of their activities.  The Pomeroy Public Library is the perfect back-to-school companion for kids and caregivers alike. The library places a  high value on  helping children discover the joy of reading and learning, motivating them to achieve in school.

Over the summer the library offered programming and fun activities where over 40 children and adults participated in the "Libraries Rock" summer reading program.  It also offered a Thursday afternoon movie matinee where children and adults could enjoy videos and popcorn in a welcoming and safe environment.

Good news that the Library will continue to offer after-schools programs on the last Monday of each month at 3:45 pm.  Our first program will be Monday, September 24th at 3:45 pm with Corinne Peterson.  Join us as we learn about the Monarch butterfly and how we can keep the butterfly population sustained and growing.  We will also continue with our adult craft programs.  Our next program will be Friday, September 7th at 1:30 pm with Corinne Peterson.  Please come and learn about our native wildflowers that grow right here in Iowa.  In a few weeks the library will again be offering story hour for pre-school age children.

Wednesday coffee is back and we would love to have you stop in and enjoy a cup and catch up with some old friends too.  A big thank you to Lucia Schumacher for providing pecan muffins, they were delicious!
There are lots of things going on at your local library and we hope you will stop in soon to "check us out"!
