Inclement Weather
In case of inclement weather, such as a tornado, the staff will alert the public and direct them to the designated shelter area away from windows. In case of unattended children, the staff assumes "loco parentis" and directs them to shelter. A person who wishes to stay in the main library cannot be forced to take shelter elsewhere; however, staff members do not have to stay with any such patron. A radio is located in the library to listen to weather-related announcements.
The library may close (or postpone opening) when weather conditions exist making it highly improbable for travel. The primary factor of any decision made will be the safety of the staff and library patrons. However, maximum effort will be made to maintain regular library operation hours. Closing of the library due to inclement weather will be at the discretion of the Library Director or other staff member.
